how to unlock sim card

There are two ways to unlock SIM card. Most phone manufacturers have programmed their units to be locked which means it can only be used by the specified network or service provider that is programmed in to it. It also serves as a security check if you loose or misplace your phone. The main purpose of sim locking is to identify what region is it intended to be used in.

Manufacturers lock their phones according to country and network providers present in that country. There are two types of sim locks, one is based on country and the other is based on network providers. The more common types are locks specified for network providers, wherein they bundle the units along with their plans to get people to subscribe to their services. The lock is also covered by the phone warranty so once a phone is unlocked during the period of the contract, then the warrantee is void.
To unlock a phone to accept other types of SIM cards is done through adding programs to the phones done through a data cable. Some phones require unlock codes which can be transmitted over the air. Regions has different laws regarding sim unlocking but often times once the subscription contract is over, the user decides to have the phone unlocked so that they can use other sim cards as well.

UMTS 3g technology

The term UMTS or 3g has been loosely used to describe the latest innovation in technology especially for the telecommunication industry. What does 3g technology really mean? UMTS - 3g technology further enhances this progress through the enhancements of multimedia handling that includes voice, text and video and building it around a faster network. This also allows the users to connect through to the internet through using this new high speed wireless communication network.

GSM - 2G technology

Global System for Mobile Communication or 2g technology is a network standard that is being used by most cellular service provider around the world. Because a lot of regions use the same technology, it allows interconnectivity to their users. It means you can use your GSM mobile phone wherever a network is present. This service is called roaming where one GSM network can partner with another from a different area to carry the voice or data transmission.

An important element in any GSM 2g technology network is the subscriber identity module where it is used by subscribers where it is unique based on the different networks available. It allows the user to store contact information to a smart card where you can use it any GSM enabled phone which is not sim locked. Once the card has been installed in to the unit, it automatically searches for the signal in which your phone can connect to the network.
Once connected you can use the phone to make calls and data transmission such as text and multimedia messaging. Other services that a GSM network can provide are call barring and forwarding, call waiting and call holding plus it also allows users to identify incoming calls through caller identity service. This is the base network where 2g technology was built upon on.
